ALICE LEACH

Alice Leach is making serious inroads in 2010 - in the new year she was featured in the Saatchi Online top ten chosen by Rebecca Wilson, Saatchi Gallery’s Director of Development (who herself has enjoyed new found celebrity status since acting as Charles Saatchi's proxy on the recent 'School of Saatchi' programme on BBC2).

Alice works from the heart - Her work is concerned with emotion and thought, provoking if need be. The basis of her practice is shaped by her visual diary. She updates it daily – a random, unpredictable record of the day’s events, left raw and unfinished. She embraces various materials and techniques including sculpture. She does not try to control or restrain her process of working. She has no desire for perfection or neatness. She prefers an unvarnished approach where things are allowed to develop. Apparent inaccuracies become embedded in the work much as they do in life. She cannot control emotions, they shift and vacillate and her work reflects the constant shift in her consciousness. Her work is beautiful and deeply moving and we have a selection for you from her 'Excerpts From A Diary' series on paper.
