Recurring themes include; dark dystopia (surreal genetically manipulated creatures that speak of futures in which things have gone terribly wrong), magical fantasy (chimeras that may be read mythologically or as creatures from other realities), and environmental fragility (animals entombed in retro objects, often radios and clocks, that evoke nostalgia and the feeling that space for nature is shrinking).
The animals he uses are always ethically sourced – mostly roadkill or pets that have died of natural causes.
