Her striking work began piecing together seemingly unrelated shards to create a coherent whole, something beautiful out of disorder.
Her current series of iconic women, ranging from national treasure Hilda Ogden to inaugural poet Amanda Gorman, are beautifully executed. Her eye for detail and brilliant use of colour and shadow put her mosaics into another league. She manages to capture the power and mesmerising character of the women she depicts at the same time infusing her works with warmth and humour.
Just as Grayson Perry has been instrumental in ceramics crossing the border into fine art Kathy is definitely doing the same for mosaics.
Definitely one to watch!
